Purpose

This study explores the transformative potential of sustainable emerging technologies, specifically artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and big data analytics, in human resource management (HRM) within innovation ecosystem-driven organisations. The research study examines how these technologies enhance organisational innovation, sustainability and competitive advantage.

Design/Methodology/Approach

A mixed-methods approach was employed, incorporating qualitative data from semi-structured interviews with HR professionals and quantitative data from a structured survey. The qualitative phase provided in-depth insights into the integration of emerging technologies while the quantitative phase validated these findings through statistical analysis.

Findings

The study revealed a strong positive correlation between technology adoption and key organisational outcomes, including innovation performance and competitive advantage. AI, blockchain and big data were found to significantly improve HRM practices, fostering a culture of innovation and sustainability. However, challenges such as ethical considerations, cost and integration complexity were also identified.

Research Limitations/Implications

The research study is limited by its sample size and industry representation, which may affect the generalisability of the findings. Additionally, the rapidly evolving nature of technology could render some findings obsolete in the near future. Further research is recommended to explore long-term impacts and the role of organisational culture in technology integration.

Originality/Value

This study contributes to the literature by providing a comprehensive analysis of how sustainable emerging technologies can transform HRM practices. It offers valuable insights for HR professionals, organisational leaders and policymakers on leveraging these technologies to enhance innovation and sustainability within dynamic environments.
