Abstract
In today's economy, where globalization and market saturation play a crucial role, success depends on companies' ability to create high-quality products with a distinctive offer. One of the key drivers of product price is value added that comprises design, reputation, quality, and environmental friendliness. Companies recognize the importance of such intangibles and invest in them to protect their product from unauthorized copying.
Tourism industry demonstrates a continuous growth, becoming one of the major actors in the international services trade. This circumstance stipulates the purpose of the research: to identify the role of intellectual property (hereafter IP) in ecotourism, which is to protect the environment, preserve natural resources, and improve the quality of tourism services. Moreover, IP allows to defend the elaboration of latest technologies for reducing waste and improving water resources management, which promotes environmental situation.

The main outcomes are: (i) Recognizing the interconnectedness of ecotourism and IP rights is essential to effectively harness the potential of IP system in this field, to stimulate tourism development and to achieve sustainable growth. (ii) IP system provides various types of tools to improve the tourism services competitiveness.
