Abstract
This chapter examines the challenges and future directions concerning using artificial intelligence (AI) and security intelligence within the tourism industry. It aims to identify critical hurdles the industry faces in integrating AI and security intelligence solutions while outlining future directions for enhancing security measures in the tourism sector. A comprehensive review of secondary sources, including academic literature, industry reports, and online resources, was conducted. Relevant information regarding integrating AI and security intelligence in the tourism industry was synthesized to identify critical challenges and potential future directions for analysis. The findings reveal several challenges, including data privacy concerns, technological barriers, lack of standardized frameworks, and human resource constraints hindering the effective integration of AI and security intelligence in the tourism sector. Moreover, the study identifies potential future directions, such as adopting advanced AI algorithms, collaborating with cybersecurity experts, and developing tailored security solutions to address industry-specific needs. The study is limited by the availability of literature and the interview scope. Additionally, the rapidly evolving nature of technology and security threats poses challenges in providing exhaustive insights into future developments. This research offers valuable insights for tourism industry stakeholders, policymakers, and technology providers to navigate the complexities of integrating AI and security intelligence solutions. It provides valuable insights that can inform decision-making processes and guide strategic investments in technology and security infrastructure to ensure the sustainability and growth of the tourism sector.
