Chapter 4: Structural surveys and structural alterations

This chapter highlights common issues and some of the techniques available for carrying out a structural investigation. The purpose is to determine how the structure currently behaves and its state of repair for temporary works design purposes. It describes various techniques which may be used to carry out a refurbishment project. It highlights some design principles and some of the risks involved with carrying out this type of work.
