First page of Conclusion

This book draws its inspiration from papers submitted to the t-Forum 2020 conference. The t-Forum is about transfer of knowledge/intelligence to and within tourism. The papers selected for this volume contribute to the transfer of knowledge about destination management. Thus, it is appropriate to draw some conclusions about destination management research and also about knowledge transfer. Two issues have been identified for further discussion of the many that arise from the chapters in this volume. The first concerns developing skills and expertise in destination management and the second bridging tourism theory and practice.

The chapters in this volume were chosen to reflect aspects of destination management. They are divided into five sections: strategy, new markets, stakeholders, infrastructure and research, and knowledge management. Within these sections, cross-cutting themes include the importance of social and environmental sustainability, diversity of cultural perspectives and treatments, and integration of governance.
