First page of Supervising International Students

The task of providing high-quality postgraduate education experiences for international students begins with the qualification of those very terms. In fact, international students themselves seek out highly prestigious institutions with good reputations to further their postgraduate education. The journey of an international student begins with this first step.

Institutions at any level value international postgraduate students because of the income they will bring, as well as internationalisation and global recognition prospects. More recently, many higher education providers have even recruited international supervisors to cater specifically for the higher demand of potential international students. To ensure that enrolment of international students for postgraduate study always meets target numbers, educational institutions have to maintain a certain level of prestige. Notwithstanding this, the university will accept a student depending on several financial and academic factors. The benefits to the institution may be financial, related to prestige, related to regulations or related to more altruistic concerns such as student diversity and academic inclusion. The supervisors themselves will obviously introduce parameters related to availability, student suitability and effects upon their field of research.
