Chapter 1: Feminist Thoughts Before Annual Leave

The calendar has marked Friday, July 28th, 2023. With an overdue deadline, I am writing this at the request of the Editors of this edited volume (and that of my body’s!) to extend a critique against forms of marginalization and overwork that impede women and other writers (by heteronormative, cisgender, masculine standards) from engaging with writing that matters.

I am a woman.

I am a writer.

I am an academic writer.

I am a poet.

I am a feminist.

I write (about) my body and other bodies.

I am also a teacher. But I look so young!

And, I am a mid-career academic.
