Lonko: sociopolitical authority of the Mapuche people who heads one or more communities. Their jurisdiction is divided into territorial or family units.

Machi: physical, psychological and spiritual doctor. According to Mapuche belief, their healing capacity is granted by a superior being.

Pachamama: Quechua term meaning mother earth.

Purrun: traditional Mapuche dance, performed in religious and cultural ceremonies.

Wiñol Tripantu: ceremony performed by the Mapuche people on the winter solstice. The beginning of a new year is celebrated on this date.
