This literature review sorts the research about promotion discrimination against people with disabilities (PWDs) using the economic models of discrimination. By connecting psychological constructs like proactive behavior, and job embeddedness with economic models, the review seeks to inspire new lines of inquiry that can help us learn about the career progression of PWDs. One key finding is that, while data about PWD hiring is already quite developed, addressing the lack of data on long-term career outcomes for PWDs is crucial for ensuring that the future of disability employment consists of full inclusion in the workforce.
