PROFESSOR WILEY The late great Ralph Damon, for whom I had the pleasure of working some years ago, used to say,
Success in air transportation is a race between technological development and bankruptcy.' This has nowhere been more true than in air cargo development. With the current cost-profit squeeze air transportation must be evaluated in terms of its contribution to reducing total distribution costs in the overall marketing scheme. Distribution is one of the few sectors left where businessmen can make substantial savings. It is a large and not too tidy sector dependent in all its phases on efficient air transportation.
