BIOGRAPICAL NOTES

PROFESSOR STUART COLE WTSG & Wales Transport Research Centre

Professor Stuart Cole has been Professor of Transport and Director of the Wales Transport Research Centre at the University of Glamorgan since March 2001. He was invited to be the first Director following three years as Visiting Professor of Transport.

He is currently the Specialist Adviser on Transport to the House of Commons Select Committee on Welsh Affairs where he has been involved in three inquiries since 2000, the most recent being 'Transport in Wales" published in December 2002. He was first asked to advise the Committee in 1984.

Professor Cole is also Cadeirydd (chairman) of the Institute of Logistics and Transport Cymru Wales (2002 - 04); immediate past Chairman of the Institute of Highways and Transportation south Wales branch (2002 - 03); Chairman, PTI Cymru Steering Group, Welsh Assembly Government (2002 - ) Chairman, Wales Transport Strategy Group (1999 - ) and a member of the Assembly Government's Welsh Transport Forum, chaired by the Minister of the Environment ( 2001 -) .
