Chapter 7: Good-Bye Shyness, Hello Teaching

It is Friday afternoon after a long week of teaching and I am excited for a social gathering with friends at a local restaurant, eating my favorite comfort foods such as chicken wings, French fries, and pizza. As we all gather, we exchange pleasantries as we have known each other for many years and just as we are about to take our first bite of our delicious food we begin to chat about our greatest passion in life, mathematics teaching. As the conversation starts I secretly ponder how I got to a point where I would be so excited on a Friday afternoon to gather with a group of math teachers and combine fried food with fractions.
