CHAPTER 8: TEC: An Online Collaborative Learning Model in a Multicultural Environment

Innovative teaching and learning on the Internet enables practical connections in a safe environment without reference to stereotypes and external appearance, concentrating on the process of learning and mutual enrichment through meaningful dialogue. In a multicultural society such as Israel, which is characterized by tensions between Arab and Jewish cultures, there is a need for a special model of online collaborative learning based on successful knowledge and experience in order to lead educational communities to a more enlightened future. The Technology, Education and Cultural Diversity (TEC) model combines collaborative and meaningful teaching and learning with education in values and multiculturalism in an advanced teaching environment.
