Chapter 3: Testimonios of Entry-Level Latina/O/X Student Affairs Professionals

As entry-level professionals, we constantly navigate new territory often not knowing if the choices we make will be for our betterment or detriment. We move through higher education only armed with a limited understanding of what it means to be in higher education. We look to those who came before us for guidance, a sense of comfort, and validation, only to find that there are few people who look like us in higher education, and even fewer in the field of student affairs. Because we have no definitive path or North Star to guide us, we shuffle our way through our careers, trying to find our truths and hoping our shuffling will be enough to guide us towards success.
