Chapter 5: Maintaining Harmony in Irish Workplaces: A View of Workplace Dispute Resolution Practice in Ireland

Ireland is home to many multinational American companies. The Irish workplace, with its attendant rules and regulations, provides a stable environment for productive organizations. It has contributed to Ireland’s economic growth where its economy grew by 7.3% in 2017, three times faster than the wider Euro area, according to new European Union (EU) Commission estimates (Raidió Teilifís Éireann, 2018). The surge, driven by the activities of multinational companies operating in Ireland, made it the fastest-growing country in the EU.

This chapter looks at the developments in Ireland regarding workplace dispute resolution, and what can be gained from the interventions and innovations that are emerging as best practices, as well as contributing to Ireland’s attractiveness as a center for foreign direct investment. This chapter focuses on the perspectives of the author as a mediator, adjudicator, investigator, and trainer in interpersonal conflict matters and situations.
