This study explores the work of four principal preparation program coordinators (PCs) who were the only tenure-track, full-time educational leadership faculty at their institutions as they engaged in program redesign to emphasize equity-focused leadership preparation. Findings explore the role of solo-faculty PCs as agents of change as they sought to build capacity for greater focus on equity through a response to state-level changes in administrator credentialing requirements. PCs were able to accelerate change within their individual institutions by leveraging their collective capacity through collaborative redesign. This study offers implications for solo-faculty PCs, for leadership preparation programs with small faculties, and for administrators seeking to better support addressing the challenges facing solo-faculty PCs.
