This book chapter provides a comprehensive analysis of academic procrastination in various online learning contexts, including synchronous, asynchronous, and blended learning. The chapter begins by discussing how procrastination manifests in different types of online learning and highlights the different factors contributing to procrastination. The chapter presents findings on the negative impact of academic procrastination. It then suggests several intervention strategies for both educators and students to overcome procrastination and achieve academic success. The implications for practice are discussed in detail, providing valuable insights for both educators and students navigating online learning environments. For educators, the chapter suggests designing courses and materials that promote self-regulation, intrinsic motivation, time management, and social support. Meanwhile, students are encouraged to develop self-regulation, time management, and goal-setting skills while seeking academic support and participating in social interaction activities. The chapter concludes by identifying areas for future research, such as the impact of technology and personality traits on academic procrastination in online learning, as well as the long-term consequences of procrastination on students’ academic performance and well-being.
