This chapter is based on the presentation and examination of different innovative processes used for assessments in the subject entitled, Fundamentals of Photography and Aesthetics, of the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences, CEU San Pablo University, Spain. The main objective is to face the new challenges posed by novel ways of teaching that include a more participative methodology, which places the student at the centre of their learning process, as well as pedagogical evaluation systems. Regarding assessment techniques, we have focused on feedback and the creation of a rubric in the search for new tools that can supplement the traditional exam. The goal should be for assessment to at the service of learning and not the other way around. The ultimate goal is to improve and refine the evaluation of students’ academic performance. Throughout this paper, the different phases of the process undertaken are presented as follows: identification of areas in need of improvement; the actions undertaken; the expected results; and their impact on the improvement of teaching methods for students who are working toward international degrees.
