Plants, Plants, What Do You Need? An Online Second Grade Science Lesson invites students to learn using online activities to bring science concepts to life. Students explore a hands-on plant growth experiment and collaborate with peers to determine if plants need sunlight and water to grow. The 5-E instructional model is used to sequence activities in this lesson. It is NGSS-aligned, integrating grade-level appropriate Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs), Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs), and Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs) unique to 3-dimensional learning. Additionally, the lesson integrates various learner-appropriate tools supporting online learning to foster student engagement and vital 21st century skills.
