The hospitality and tourism academy exists parallel to the traditional business academy. While the much smaller hospitality and tourism academy draws heavily from the business academies, it is not surprising that the opposite seldom occurs. This chapter reviews leader-member exchange research to date within the hospitality and tourism academy. Leader-member exchange theory has been found to have substantial explanatory and predictive power within hospitality and tourism.
