First page of Effective Implementation Of Strategic Plans

The definition of a relevant strategy is one of the most important responsibilities for the dean of a business school. However the implementation of a strategic plan is also fundamental to the advancement of the college. This chapter will present an overview of the global approach from the definition of the mission to the evaluation of the actions that lead a strategic plan in a business school.

The work to develop the market data and to analyze the college situation in the market is often underestimated by deans. Business education is a complex environment which implies the need to use a systematic approach. Business education is also a changing environment which implies a need for constant vigilance to be aware of market issues and also the ability to anticipate changing market environments. Strategic analysis requires a need for the identification of schools’ strengths and weaknesses. This analysis is sometimes difficult for a dean because he/she has often a natural tendency to overestimate the qualities of his/her institution or can have an unclear or limited understanding of the global market of business education.
