In this chapter, the author explores issues surrounding technology and the education of social studies teachers. The author points to recent research which suggests that pre-service teachers may be learning to use technology, but not in the context of social studies education. In an attempt to explore the question of how social studies teachers should be prepared to use technology, the author presents a framework which highlights different beliefs about technology and education and situates social studies teacher education within that framework.
