The purpose of this chapter is to contribute to the literature on strategic collaboration across the private sector through an examination of strategic partnerships and open-source security intelligence. As opposed to extant literature, which has built on competitive intelligence, we seek to provide a richer understanding of cooperative sharing. Using a case study of the recent legal case brought against Uber for alleged espionage activity, we draw attention to the risks of undermining the informal rules that underlie information sharing institutions within the private sector.
