In the spring semester of 2018, the Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Miami’s School of Education and Human Development hosted 30 English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers from Brazil for a Six-Week English Language Certificate Program for High School English Teachers From Brazil,” henceforth PDPI (“Pro- grama de Desenvolvimento Profissional para Professores de Língua Inglesa nos EUA”). In response to a request for proposals from the Institute of International Education, in June 2017, we applied to host a group of Brazilian high school EFL teachers for a professional learning opportunity. Our proposal focused on language development and methodology.
