                                Entrepreneurship

The question of what explains entrepreneurial behavior has a long history (Weber, 1904–5). In addition to individual experiences and personal characteristics, organizational contexts help explain who engages in entrepreneurial behavior (Frese … Gielnik, 2014). This chapter describes the influence of two prevalent organizational contexts, where people work and where they worship, on a specific type of entrepreneurial behavior, nascent hybrid entrepreneurship. Nascent hybrid entrepreneurs are those who are trying to start a business while simultaneously working for someone else (Burmeister–Lamp, Lévesque, … Schade, 2012; Folta, Delmar, … Wennberg, 2010; Raffiee … Feng, 2014). Because starting businesses and innovation are “two major sources both of economic growth and social well–being” (D. Miller, 2011, p. 877), nascent hybrid entrepreneurship makes an important contribution to vibrant communities.
