                        Lounsbury</subtitle>

As middle level teacher educators, we were not privileged to know the young John Lounsbury, whom we now honor as a Legacy Leader of middle level education. Indeed, when the first of the four of us met him, he was already 65 and retired from his role as dean at Georgia College, but his influence extended far beyond any singular position. Applying his self-described notable attribute as a “nice person,” Lounsbury stepped out to improve the world from the vantage point of one developed through the Depression era, initially as a schoolteacher and later as an advocate for all young adolescents.
