In our work, we have collaborated and engaged with families (Latino, refugees from the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Somalia) to provide culturally responsive trauma-informed services focused on enhancing young children's social emotional well-being. We teach our university students the importance of forming respectful relationships and connecting with families, addressing barriers families face in accessing services, and aligning outreach and services with family's cultural beliefs and practices. Relationship building is the first block in the trauma-informed service provision process which consists of connecting andcollaborating with the family, maximizing their choice and control, and focusing on safety, strengths, and spiritual and emotional well-being.
