This chapter explores the potential for male faculty and staff members to serve as mentors to at-risk student-athletes within higher education. Student-athletes are the most visible students of the entire student population at these institutions and often influence how students are viewed and treated by other faculty, students, and the university communities at large. Based on empirical research, classroom and administrative experience, this chapter will discuss the impact of faculty mentoring on student-athletes enrolled in college and provide solutions for administrators and faculty members to utilize in their efforts to help guide these students towards achieving athletic, academic, and personal success.
