The walls in room 407 are covered with collages representing maps of the journeys that members of the research collective took en route to joining the Intergenerational Change Initiative (ICI). Some maps have branches that dip sharply, representing a stretch in a juvenile facility. One features a year when depression had a tight grip, another shows an incident between a parent and a police officer that kick-started an ICI member’s path of activism. Other maps show years of working in an alternative-to-incarceration program before enrolling in both a youth sudies master’s and law program, or a move to the United States to pursue a PhD.
