First page of Latinx Students, Career Theories, and Interventions

In the United States, Latinx make up the largest, youngest, and fastest growing minority group. This group is made of Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, and populations coming from South/Central American countries (Gándara & Contreras, 2009). Latinx also represent 15% of the United States workforce. This community proves to be a large diverse group of young citizens and immigrants. Thus, many counseling scholars have examined the level of career choices and paths that demonstrate effectiveness in Latinx communities (Zalaquett & Baez, 2012). Latinx progress and contributions to society may be enhanced by providing career counseling at younger ages, considering that this diverse, minority group is large and will continue to grow.
