Were your main decks always above wave crests? How did you calculate Vmax?

Unfortunately, the levels of the decks were determined by the reference design and resetting was not permitted. Vmax was generally calculated based on Fenton’s stream function on the predicted wave conditions at various locations of the jetty.

With regard to the dolphins, how did you assess the wave forces?

Wave forces were estimated based on a combination of techniques from Morrison’s equation for piles, Goda’s formula to Cuomo’s work on wave loads in suspended decks. In general, extreme wave forces were less than the design mooring and berthing forces.
