The physical model shows a distinct stem wave generating towards the narrow section of navigation channel at the harbour entrance. How was this energy transfer dealt with regarding navigation?
The southern boundary of the site is rough rocky landscape, absorbing significant wave energy. Both the physical and numerical modelling showed that wave disturbance reduces significantly in the lee of the southern breakwater. Extensive full bridge navigation simulation showed that ships could navigate safely through the entrance and this was undertaken with full knowledge and recognition of the wave conditions in the entrance.
The planshape of the harbour basin looks very regular and possibly vulnerable to resonance of long waves. Was this aspect investigated and with what results?
