Spiritual leadership (SL) and spirituality in the workplace (SAW) are significant themes of contemporary business literature that offer an alternative approach to doing business. As organizations have increasingly turned to morality and social responsibility to guide both principles and policies, traditional taboo themes such as religion, righteousness, and reverence are increasingly intersecting with issues of relevance (with respect to work and/ or authority) and reward (financial and otherwise). Arguably, both academics and practitioners, are open and often welcoming of an organizational perspective that promotes spirituality and its complements. Workers seeking a sovereign’s calling, managers striving for servanthood-type leadership, and organizations supplying supportive environments all suggest that firms can harmoniously integrate purpose and profit.
