This chapter is a critical policy analysis that considers how the spheres of public education and criminal justice are braided together to brace up neoliberal state projects of disinvesment, dispossession, and hyper-accumulation. Drawing on an examination of accountability as a case study, the author argues that corresponding developments in both policy arenas have enhanced the state’s capacity to advance and manage the racial capitalist conditions requisite to neoliberal urbanism.
