Abstract
The Consumed University: Neoliberalism in Academia will discuss the battle over the role of universities in society. One side of this clash sees the role of the academy in society as emancipatory, the other as a way of servicing private interests. By examining the roots of neoliberalism, the effects of neoliberalism on globalization and neoliberalism’s impact on the academic mission of the university, this chapter will discuss the battle over the soul of higher education.
