First page of Moments of Truth

I often tell myself I’m just an ordinary girl trying to live an extraordinary life. I wonder if I even have a story to tell. My partner types away, pouring her story onto the paper in the most beautifully twisted way. After nine years together, I’m still hanging on to each word, waiting for the next. “Everyone’s got a story,” she says, “start writing.” All I know for sure is my story is a quiet one.

I was born a Georgia girl, but never really had roots anywhere since I was an army brat. We spent the longest time in a small suburb outside Virginia, where my brother was born, until my parents divorced. It was 1982; my mom packed my brother and me into the car and off we went to Texas, where our extended family lived. We settled in suburbia and our new lives began.
