This manuscript outlines findings from a study involving foregrounding issues of race and racism with twenty seven preservice teachers in a literacy methods course. A major finding of the study was that the preservice teachers employed White Talk (McIntyre, 1997) as a means of resistance to such issues. Additionally, they used White Talk more frequently when discussing children with Brown skin color.
