In 2018, Austria had a population of 8.837.707, with 19.4% being up to 19 years old, 61.8% between 20 and 64, and 18.8% being 65+. Average life expectancy is 79.3 years for men and 84.0 for women. Demographics display an ageing society, with the share of population aged 65+ increasing from 15.4% in 2000 to forecasted 23.2% in 2030. Population is growing with a forecast of 9.2 million by 2030. Since the 1990s, migration is the only driver for demographic growth. It also makes the overall population a bit younger, as the average age of foreign citizens is 35.1 years compared to 44.3 years for the total population.
