In the 1980s, the reforms implemented by international donors in sub-Saharan countries generally consisted of transplanting management methods considered universal. The use of the socio-economic method, by considering the specificities of the context, made the reforms more appropriate and acceptable. After examining the problems posed by the reforms, the presentation of a few activities implemented in accordance with values very similar to those of ISEOR shows how socioeconomic management can be a lever for action for countries in the South.
