English Educators should consider how a focus on writing can help candidates to connect theory and practice. In this chapter, I demonstrate how bridging the gap between writing theories taught at the university level and practices taking place in the secondary schools can be beneficial to both teacher candidates and English Language Arts teachers in the field.
