This volume has presented its readers with a number of pedagogical strategies to secure student investment and increase critical awareness. Many of the contributors understand the importance of contextualizing students’ learning experiences, whether that understanding takes the form of accounting for the culture from which the students come or bridging the gap between writing for high school and writing for college. Some contributors focused on teacher education and the application of lessons in the high school classroom. At the base of these collaborations and innovations, however, is a progressive stance on the meaning of success. It is here I would like to linger.
