You aren’t quite sure what to do. You’ve arrived a bit later at school this morning and so the main office is actually fairly crowded. The office secretaries are busy typing and answering the incessantly ringing phone, the random squawk of a walkie-talkie as a security guard goes past, and teachers in their early morning haze, coffee in one hand, hair still wet, check their mailboxes as well, as you stand there, legs unable to move, breath tight, as your right hand grips the memo severely, crinkling at the edges as your left hand steadies yourself against the mailbox and the wall. You’re late because you haven’t slept well for several nights, the news causing you to lay down with tension and bolt awake.
