In the first section of this chapter, we review the tasks, functions, competencies and I-positions that currently define the identity of academic advisers, those professionals who work in formal educational institutions, whose main objective is to improve the teaching and learning processes.

In the second section, we present a new approach to advising based on dialogic advice, through six premises: focus on changing the identity of the teacher, strategically managing different types of dialogue, generating coherent and solid We-positions, promoting self -dialogue, intervening in the Development Zone of the educational center, and advise quickly and contextualized with the support of ICT.

Finally, the last section is dedicated to pointing out some training routes to promote an identity of the academic advisor, more in line with current educational demands.
