At first I did not react when the College of Teachers announced that all teachers-to-be would receive training on dealing with multiculturalism and equity issues. After all, I had taken anthropology courses that included information about minorities and taught me how to include various groups of First Nations’ students in a classroom. I had been part of a writing as well as an editorial team that was made aware of appropriate ways of dealing with these types of issues. And I had helped to raise three daughters.
