Studying in a foreign country can be an enriching experience, although it is not always an easy endeavor. International students who embark on this journey will be confronted with an array of experiences while in the host country. The face of institutions of higher education has drastically changed since their inception as many of these institutions of higher education now boast a great diversity of students, including international students. This diversity in terms of age, culture, ethnicity, gender, language, race and religion constitutes the multi-cultural nature of today’s higher education institutions (Barletta & Kobayashi, 2007; Ruane, Kasayira, & Shino, 2011).
