We began this volume with a challenge. We know that digital tools can be powerful tools for youth to bring their issues into the public discourse and accomplish civic and political goals. Events such as the Million Hoodie March and Idle No More gained power through creative use of social media. We know less, however, about the learning ecologies and experiences that enable young people to organize each other around issues that matter to them; to become skilled at political action in the digital age. This volume responded to this challenge by curating case studies that document innovations in youth civic learning and action across a variety of settings.
