This study contributes to the growing body of research and professional literature about classroom integration of literacy support technologies, like Summary Street.1 The results of this study suggest that summarization, in general, and a summarization tool, Summary Street, in particular, can be useful and effective tools to supplement teachers’ content-area reading support, encourage students to read texts more carefully, work well for students at all reading skill levels, and provide individual attention that students find useful and appealing. This work offers insights into technology integration and the specific challenges and benefits that may be applicable to other classroom settings.
