Chapter 2: Seeking a Faculty Position

About one year ago, the editors of this book invited me to write a chapter on seeking a faculty position, and initially, I didn’t think I was the right person to do it; I was just a junior tenure-track Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) faculty member. After some serious thought and reflection, I realized, however, that I am in a good position to write about the job search process and especially to give advice to second language doctoral students who are on the job market. I am a Korean-born, non-native-English-speaking (NNES) Asian woman who has gone through the process myself.
