Dr. John W. Schwieter holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Spanish, a Master of Science in Bilingual and ESL Education (MSEd) from Western Illinois University, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Spanish Language and Linguistics from the Florida State University. Dr. Schwieter has been an instructor of Spanish at Western Illinois University and Spoon River College in Macomb, Illinois and at Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University in Tallassee, Florida. In 2007, he joined Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada as an assistant professor of Spanish and linguistics and as an associate professor of Spanish and linguistics in 2011. At this institution, he was recently named the 2012 Faculty of Arts Teaching Scholar, and his teaching, both in Spanish and English, spans from language courses to theoretical and applied linguistics. Outside of Canada and the United States, Dr. Schwieter also has extensive study abroad and international teaching experience in Latin America and Spain, and he has visited over 40 countries. In his spare time, Dr. Schwieter enjoys working on completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Organizational Leadership and Project Management from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
