Formative Assessment: Teachers can use class discussion and analysis of the graphic organizer to check for student understanding throughout the lesson. Important facts and key ideas that teachers should assess are identified throughout the lesson.
Summative Assessment:The final thesis statement on the graphic organizer should be used as the summative assessment for this lesson. The images that students create can also help teachers determine if students understand the concept of caricature. Students must apply their acquired knowledge on the topic of immigration and primary sources to answer the questions on the Hollywood or History Graphic organizer and create their own cartoon. Teachers should assess student work on their ability to use the lesson’s key ideas and facts to support a claim. Teachers are encouraged to develop a rubric based on the grading system used in their school. t
